Islamabad – Our Stags Correspondent: Hot on the heels of the bill to provide protection to women, the government is set to table a bill in the National Assembly that would seek to provide protection to the country’s single people.

“We’ve found out that single people, both men and women, are a much oppressed community and that has to stop,” said the PML-N’s Anusha Rahman.

As per the bill, a list of phrases, including “When are you getting married?” are going to have a legal limit of once a month for acquaintances and friends, once every fortnight for relatives and once a week for parents.

The list adds up to a total of 1,340 phrases, which include all vernacular convoluted euphemisms like, “When are we eating the rice that is going to be served at your wedding?”

The proposed legislation hopes to be all-encompassing and would tackle the problem from all angles. To that end, another list is also being prepared, which will outlaw certain tactics by the singles’ significant others as well, such as females’ repeated statements like, “Aaj kal meray bohat rishtay aa rehay hain…” and males repeatedly bringing up, without context, how financially and emotionally stable they have now become.
