Four army personnel were martyred while at least 19 militants were killed and several others injured in clashes in the Waziristan tribal agencies on Saturday.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets pounded suspected hideouts in Misar area of tehsil Dattakhel of South Waziristan Agency (SWA). Four hideouts were destroyed while 15 militants were reported killed in the shelling.
Meanwhile, security forces surrounded a group of fleeing terrorists in Mangroti area of Shawal near Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).
A fierce clash took place in which four soldiers, including a captain, were martyred while four militants were killed.
According to an official statement, over 3,500 militants have been killed in Operation Zarb-e-Azb, while the offensive forced over a million civilians to vacate their homes and move to settled areas of the country.
Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif ordered troops on Wednesday to march on the last bastion of terrorists in Shawal valley of NWA to take operation Zarb-e-Azb to its logical end.
