Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday his government has started a number of programmes for empowerment of the youth and these projects are yielding positive results.
Addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link in which the implementation of programmes for empowering youth was reviewed, Sharif said the Punjab government had also decided to launch E-Job Training Programme which would play an important role in provision of respectable job opportunities for the youth.
He said that this programme would play an important role in providing honourable jobs to the youth so that they could ensure bright future for Pakistan and become useful investment for the country. He said that imparting training for provision of digital jobs was the need of the hour, and the youth would be further empowered by imparting training in information technology under the E-Job Training Programme. Sharif directed the steering committee to evolve a programme and finalise recommendations in this regard at the earliest.
The chief minister said that 60 per cent population of the country comprised youth and the destiny of the country and the nation could be changed by empowering them. He said that the implementation of Skills Development Programme was continuing successfully and many youngsters were enabled to stand on their own feet. According to him, training in the various skills has been provided to thousands of youth under this programme so far.
Sharif said the pace of development of the country could be accelerated through promotion of information technology, and added that the Punjab government had taken effective steps for promotion of information technology and e-job training programme was a part of it under which the youth would be equipped with modern technology.
Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman Dr Umar Saif gave a briefing about the basic features of e-job training programme. Provincial Ministers Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Ch Muhammad Shafiq, Ayesha Ghous Pasha, the additional chief secretary, secretaries, PVTC chairman and officials concerned attended the meeting from the Civil Secretariat through video link.
SHARIF, NISAR DETERMINED TO ROOT OUT TERRORISM
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have reiterated the determination to root out terrorism and extremism, and expressed satisfaction over the steps taken in Punjab under the National Action Plan.
Nisar, who called on the chief minister here on Friday, discussed with him the country’s security situation overall, steps taken against terrorism under the NAP and final phase of local bodies’ elections.
The interior minister on behalf of the federal government assured full cooperation to the Punjab government with regards to the existing security situation.
The chief minister thanked the federal minister for provision of modern vehicles, necessary equipment and cooperation by his ministry. He told Nisar that people of Punjab had expressed full confidence in the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz during the local bodies’ elections.
