Sindh Assembly on Thursday witnessed uproar of opposition parties on some remarks passed by Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza against Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) lawmaker Irum Azeem Farooque.
According to details, during consideration of Govt Bill 44/2015, The Karachi Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship Bill 2015, MQM lawmaker Irum Azeem Farooque wanted to speak on which Deputy Leader Shehla Raza, who was chairing the House, gave some remarks which angered all opposition members. They stood on their seats and raised slogans of “go corruption go”. Amid their uproar, the chair adjourned the House to Friday at 3:00pm.
Earlier, the House unanimously passed the Govt Bill 37/2015 The Sindh Workers’ Compensation Bill 2015, unanimously. However, the House witnessed another protest of the MQM when an adjournment motion of their leader of the opposition was termed out of order. On this occasion, the MQM stood on their seats and raised the slogans “go corruption go”.
The adjournment notice No 13 given by Khuwaja Izharul Hassan, the leader of the opposition and the MQM lawmakers was that the Sindh education department was recruiting contract candidates through reform support unit of education department which was violation of rules.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro opposed the motion and it was rejected by the chair as out of order. A privilege motion given notice of by Muhammad Hussain Khan of MQM said that the Sindh government was not releasing funds during current financial year according to the budgetary allocation which was passed by the provincial assembly of Sindh, as the minister for parliamentary affairs opposed it and the chair rejected it as out of order.
Of five CANs, only two of them, 120 and 139, were raised and responded by the concerned ministers. The remaining three CANs were not taken as their movers were not present.
The chair, however, adjourned the House till today (Friday) at 03:00pm.
