CDA decides to link all sewerage lines with treatment plant

 

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to upgrade the sewerage system of the federal capital city, and all lines are being linked with the sewage treatment plant to achieve its optimal level.

This was informed during a meeting held at CDA Headquarters on Friday. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal, while Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering Shahid Sohail and senior officers of relevant formations were also in attendance.

The meeting was informed that under that CDA acting upon the comprehensive plan not only up-grading the existing sewerage system but new sewerage lines are also being constructed to discontinue the flow of sewerage in nullahs and streams, which has contaminated and polluted the clean water streams of the city on one hand while affected and deteriorated the natural beauty of Islamabad on the other.

The meeting was further briefed that rehabilitation and up gradation of sewerage system will be eventually helpful in the revival of clean water streams which were once the trademark of Islamabad. The meeting was further informed that a team of competent engineers have been supervising the revamping of the system. They also briefed about the identified problematic and troubled areas of the sewerage system so that international standards are met for today’s growing Islamabad.

Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that decision to rehabilitate the sewerage system of the city was taken to meet the requirement of expanding Islamabad and there was dire need to revamp the sewerage system of the city. He said that funds amounting to Rs. 150 million has already been allocated in this regard, which would be further enhanced on need basis, to ensure uninterrupted and speedy completion of the project. He said that rehabilitation and revamping of sewerage system is part of comprehensive Islamabad up-gradation and rehabilitation plan being executed in the entire city.
