Cable operators on Thursday suspended cable services across Punjab for three hours, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, in protest over what they called “unjustified taxes” levied on them by the Punjab Revenue Authority.
All-Pakistan Cable Operators’ Association chief Jabbar had on Wednesday demanded the Punjab government held talks with them and revoked the taxes imposed on cable operators or cable transmissions would be shut across Punjab for three hours on Thursday as a symbolic protest.
Jabbar had urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the tax imposed on cable operators. Cable operators had warned that “if their demands were not met, they would be forced to hold a countrywide protest for an indefinite period”.
According to reports, advertisers suffered huge losses due to suspension of cable TV transmissions across Punjab.
