Global Fund to provide $255 million to Pakistan for health sector improvement

The Global Fund on Wednesday agreed to provide $255 million to Pakistan to improve health facilities.

Secretary Economic Affairs Division and a representative of the Global Fund signed the agreement here, while Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the finance minister said the assistance by the Global Fund would help overcome various diseases in Pakistan. He said the assistance would be utilised in a transparent manner.

Saira Afzal Tarar thanked the Global Fund for the assistance. She said it was an important agreement, which would help improve the health sector in Pakistan.

The Global Fund representative said the Fund was determined to cooperate with Pakistan. With this agreement, relations with Pakistan would be promoted, he added.
