Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that Sharif brothers – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif – are scared of 12 cases of corruption being investigated by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against them.

Speaking at a public rally organised at Azad Kashmir’s Kotli district, he said elimination of corruption was necessary for the country’s progress, adding that whatever becomes a hurdle in the way of free accountability should be removed.

Lauding his party’s government in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Khan said corruption was least prevalent in KP in comparison to other provinces of Pakistan.

Terming corruption a necessity for the corrupt elements due to involvement of money in power, the PTI chief said that Prime Minister Sharif was scared of NAB for the same reason.

He said the time was ripe to change the destiny of Kashmiris, emphasizing the importance of local government system in Azad Kashmir.

“There’s clear difference between KP and other provinces… naya (new) Azad Kashmir will be governed following the KP model,” said Khan.

“Stopping rigging in Kashmir election is a big challenge but if it’s achieved then PTI will emerge victorious.”

  1. let us face it. Pakistan is corrupt from top to bottom and not the other way around. The Shariffs are at it, the zardaris are at it and the Generals are at it too. It is not going to disappear. Imran indulges in mirage creation. The shariff family buys votes with lapptops. The people attending rallies steal chairs. Corruption and tax evasion is not going to disappear. Let the rich become richer as long as they give poor people jobs so thet they can a bite of the apple too. Better health, quality education and meritocracy is the crying need of the day. Imran has been in politics quite a while now. He wants to break the system and introduce a new system like making instant coffee. It cannot be done. When was it last when he travelled by an ordinary bus from his residence to Karachi and break bread with the poor?
