Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah slammed the government saying that it was involved in rigging both inside and outside of the parliament.
The government has even made the president’s address to the joint session of the parliament controversial, Khursheed said on Tuesday.
During the session of the lower house of the parliament, the opposition leader walked out in protest against the attitude of the deputy speaker, saying that opposition would not attend the session held under the chair of deputy speaker until he apologised over yesterday’s incident.
“We want to get the benefit of the presence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the house but we are being compelled to stage a walkout. If PM came to reconciliate us it, it would add to his prestige,” Shah said, and added that it is strange that the speaker presides over the session of the house when PM attends the NA session, but for the first time, the speaker is absent from the house even though the PM is present.
He further said that it was a matter of embarrassment that the opposition leader was absent when the PM was present in the session.
Shad added that the opposition had earlier supported the initiatives of the government on various occasions.
“An incident like the one that happened yesterday would not have happen if we had been taken into confidence,” Shah said.
He said that the opposition is the part of the house and the business of the house cannot be run without the opposition.
