Paucity of transport

Every government gives priority to provide better transport to their people, but the case is totally different in our country and especially in Karachi that has the population of more than 15 million people. Most of our countrymen are living below the line of poverty and without basic services of life such as health, education, shelter, safe drinking water, employment, transport and security as well.

The metropolitan city does not have any proper system of transport thereby causing traffic jams while, smoky, noisy traffic is a danger for the health of the citizens. The dilemma is that while the city is generating huge revenue for the country, it is deprived of basic facilities of life.

More than 80 percent people in the city travel by public transport on a daily basis. Due to inadequate services by the government, majority of the people are compelled to travel in congested, dirty and dilapidated mini buses and have to face illiterate and uncivilised people.

In this context, I request the provincial and federal governments to look into the matter and resolve the prolonged issues of the city.
