Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday advised President Mamnoon Hussain to appoint Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra as governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.
Jhagra, who is secretary general of the ruling party, is set to join the KP governor office after notification from the government.
Earlier in February, outgoing KP Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan had decided that he would vacate the post by the end of the month.
On February 4, Mehtab had met the prime minister in Islamabad to discuss his resignation. However, the PM had asked Mehtab to continue working till the next KP governor is appointed.
