Illegal marriage halls burden on city infrastructure: SBCA

Sindh Building Control Authority Director Agha Maqsood said on Wednesday that illegal construction of commercials plazas and marriage halls was creating problems and unnecessary burden on infrastructure of the city.

Agha, while presiding over a meeting held with a delegation of marriage hall owners association, said that illegal construction of commercials plazas and businesses on residential plots in populated areas of the city by a particular builder mafia would be stopped at every cost.

He said that officers involved in negligence and corruption would face severe action by the department. While giving all-out assurance, he said the officers should not accept any pressure from anywhere.

He said citizens had already been warned through newspapers and advertisements not to invest in illegal projects. If anyone invested in these shoddy projects, the SBCA would not be responsible for this, it further warned.

On the occasion, a committee was established comprising Director Master Plan Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Deputy Director Master Plan Hafiz Jawad, directors Ashkar Dawar and Zafar Hasan and the representatives of marriage hall owners association to review the problem of traffic jams around the marriage hall and illegal car parking of the marriage hall visitors on roads and streets.
