Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that ever-increasing induction of women in journalism would result in better and fact-based reporting.
The governor said this while talking to participants of a certificate course on fundamentals and practices in journalism on Wednesday at Governor House. The course was conducted by Dawood Global Foundation (DGF). The governor said that journalism was considered fourth pillar of the state due to its significance in highlighting the issues being faced by a common man and informing the authorities to take necessary action for resolving the same.
Dr Ebad said that women journalists had rendered tremendous services in highlighting various social issues, healthcare problems and plight of women and children in their society. He said: “Their news and stories have not only been appreciated within the country but have also gained international recognition. Women journalists are also performing an excellent job in electronic media as well. Their devotion and hard work is being lauded by every segment of the society. They are also doing extremely well in the field of investigative journalism which was once considered out of their domain.”
The governor congratulated the participants of the course and hoped that they would utilise knowledge gained during the course in a proper manner. Later, 48 participants of a month-long course were given away certificates on successful completion of the course.
