Shah says PPP won’t support any change to NAB laws

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Monday rejected proposed amendments in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Ordinance.

According to details, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah said that people will not accept the NAB ordinance “even if it was to be written under the shadow of Holy Quran”.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament House, Shah said that the PPP was neither consulted nor contacted regarding amendments in the NAB Ordinance. He added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must understand that this was not the right time for making amendments in NAB laws.

“No party can offer support to the government at this point in time,” he said.

Shah also said that the population census should not be postponed because of shortage of armed forces’ personnel for this particular exercise.

“If 300,000 army personnel are not available then the government should hold the census in two phases. The census can be held in Sindh and Balochistan in the first phase and in Punjab and KP in the second phase,” he said.
