Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that Pakistan Airways had been launched to control the financial losses of PIA and improve the services of the national flag carrier.
In an interview, he said the new airline has been set up on the advice of aviation experts to support PIA, as it is a common practice worldwide to save sinking firms.
Previously, the government announced to set up a new airline when the PIA employees observed a strike earlier this month, which not only created numerous problems for the passengers but also inflicted losses worth billions of rupees to the national carrier, which is already running in loss.
