Founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Akbar S Babar has demanded of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  Pervez Khattak to step down from his office after the charges against him and his brother for illegally extracting Chromite from Tangi mines in Charsadda.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Akbar S Babar said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan misled the public when he claimed that there was no allegation against the CM before the KP Ehtesab Commission nor was any such allegation made by the former DG, Ehtesab Commission who resigned under the protest.

He reminded the PTI chief of letter of DG Ehtesab sent to CM KP on February 4, in which Gen Hamid Khan had questioned the purpose of the amendments at a time when the Commission is actively pursuing inquiries and investigations on allegations of corruption against senior ministers, advisors and bureaucrats.

Babar said there is an ‘axis of evil’ between most political parties when it comes to curbing corruption. The haste in which the KP Ehtesab Act 2014 was signed by a PML-N Governor who had resigned shows a collusion between the two political parties. He said the political party ruling in the centre is busy in threatening NAB while the PTI has gone a step ahead by amending the law making the accountability process toothless. He said the PTI has joined the forces of status quo in their unholy alliance to deny people their fundamental rights. If Imran Khan is serious to mend ways, he should demand the resignation of the KP CM and withdrawal of all amendments to the KP Ehtesab Act, he demanded.
