- Says all political parties have reservations over NAB’s conduct
- Says Khan was against NAB before he was for it
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Sunday that reforms are being introduced in NAB Ordinance to make the accountability process in the country more smooth.
The information minister said that the officers were upset with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He said that NAB’s nails will have to be trimmed.
In a statement on Sunday, he said that NAB itself had admitted difficulties in the existing law to proceed against the corrupt.
Not one to miss out on a chance to hit at his party’s rivals, the information minister after partaking of some fruits at Taxila Orange Festival, threw a few salty comments NAB’s and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s way.
The minister said that the PTI chairman used to say that NAB chairman had a deal with the government but now he was ready to sacrifice anything for the same NAB chairman. He said that Khan had earlier been of the view that the appointment of the NAB chairman had been made to protect corruption, but now he had become a big fan of him. This is nothing, but duplicity, he said.
Rashid said that the price of gas being imported from Qatar hadn’t even been decided when inquiry had been launched into it.
He said that the world was appreciating the government’s projects but the same projects were being attacked from inside.
Earlier talking to media in Lahore, the minister said the process of accountability will continue; however, it will not become a hurdle in the way of progress.
He said that all the political parties had expressed reservations over the conduct and process of accountability by NAB. These will be removed in consultation with the political parties.
