PSL promotes provincialism, should be finished, say Qalandars

Lahore – Our Grapes Are Sour Correspondent: The Pakistan Super League causes provincialism and should, thus, be finished off, read an official statement of the Lahore Qalandars on Saturday.

“Yes, we’ve thought long about it, especially in the time that we were free, after getting out of the tournament,” said Qalanders Captain Azhar Ali. “Nothing is more important than national unity.”

“Actually, the inkling of this idea came to us on the day we lost our first match,” said Qalandars batting coach Ijaz Ahmed. “By the time we won our first match against the Quetta Gladiators, and then once against the Peshawar Zalmi, we realised that a T20 league was nevertheless important for the state of cricket in the country.”

“But then we went back to our initial position of thinking about the divisive qualities of the tournament,” he continued.

Upon being told by a reporter that there was still a chance that the Qalandars could continue to be in the tournament, Abdul Razzaq, the team’s all-rounder, said the PSL was the only way out of the rut that the national cricket scene was experiencing. Upon being told that the earlier reporter was mistaken and that the Qalandars were well and truly out of the tournament, Razzaq said that national unity had to be prized above everything else.
