PM approves biggest bureaucratic reshuffle since 2013

Syed Imran Gardezi posted federal secretary information and broadcasting, Abu Akif appointed secretary climate change

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday gave approval to the appointment of several federal secretaries.

The premier also approved promotion of 35 officers in grade-22.

‎This is the biggest bureaucratic shake-up since 2013 when the prime minister took over after the elections.

According to details, Syed Imran Gardezi has been posted secretary information and broadcasting while Abu Akif has been appointed secretary climate change.

Abid Javed will take over as secretary food security, Shoib Siddiqui as special secretary Ministry of Interior, Hassan Iqbal as secretary CADD, Humayun Khan as secretary federal education, Abdul Jabber as secretary National Assembly, Dr Shujaat as special secretary finance, Khalid Masood as secretary communications while Pir Baksh Jamali will take over as secretary federal ombudsman.

Ijaz Ali Khan has been posted secretary Ministry of Anti-Narcotics‎.

An official statement said that the prime minister has approved the posting plan.‎

Earlier in the day, the newly posted officers also had a meeting with the prime minister who briefed them on the vision and targets of his government.

Meanwhile, the premier approved the following promotions in grade 22.

In Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service, Javaid Jehangir‎ (Punjab) and Shagufta Khanum (Punjab) have been promoted.

In Foreign Service of Pakistan, Muhammad Naeem (Punjab), Syed Ibne Abbas (Punjab), Naghmana Hashmi (Punjab) and Syed Abrar Hussain (KP) have received promotions.

Those promoted in ‎Inland Revenue Service include Raana Seerat (Punjab), ‎and Rukhsana Yasmin(Punjab).

In Pakistan Customs Service, Nisar Muhammad Khan (KP) and‎ Rozi Khan Burki (FATA) have been promoted.

In Police Service of Pakistan, Sheikh Naseemuz Zaman (Sindh-U), Shaukhat Hayat (KP) Lt. Cdr. (r) Ihsan Ghani (KP) and ‎Sq. Ldr. Muhamad Iqbal (KP) have received promotions.

S.M. Imran Gardezi from Punjab has been promoted to grade 21 in the Information Group.

In Commerce and Trade Group, Nusrat Iqbal Jamshed (Sindh-U) has received a promotion.

In Secretariat Group, those promoted include Abdul Jabbar Ali (Punjab), ‎Abdul Malik Ghauri (Sindh-U), ‎Aamir Hasan (Punjab), and‎ Dr Nadeem Shafique Malik (Punjab).

In Pakistan Administrative Service, Syed Abu Ahmad Akif (Sindh-U), Capt. (r) ‎Tariq Masud (Punjab), ‎Shujat Ali (Punjab), Muhammad Hummayun (KPK), ‎Pir Bakhsh Khan Jamali (Balochistan), ‎Shahid Mahmood (Punjab), ‎Khalid Masood Chaudhry (Punjab), ‎Muhammad Abid Javed (Punjab), ‎Mohsin S. Haqqani (Sindh-U), ‎Aijaz Ali Khan (Sindh-R), ‎Muhammad Siddique Memon (Sindh-R), ‎Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui (Sindh-U), ‎Zahid Saeed (Punjab), ‎Arbab Muhammad Arif (KP) and ‎Hassan Iqbal (Punjab) have removed promotions.
