Constable Zahid Akbar, who was injured due to firing by unidentified motorcyclists at the picket in I-9 Sector here on Feb 12, breathed his last on Saturday at a hospital.
Head Constable Imtiaz Ahmed had died on the spot during the same incident. The funeral prayer of Constable Zahid Akbar was offered at the Islamabad Police Line Headquarters. SSP (Security) Mir Vais Niaz, SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani, Zonal SPs, ASPs, DSPs and other police
officials attended the funeral.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP (Operations) said the two martyred constables would be remembered for ever by the Islamabad police, who had foiled the nefarious design of the attackers by sacrificing their lives.
He thanked Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for taking steps for the welfare of bereaved families of the martyred policemen.
Later, the body of deceased Zahid Akbar was sent to his native town in Bhalwal tehsil, Sargodha district. He is survived by a wife and two sons.
