A political party in Karachi has accused the city police of receiving heavy bribe for release its workers.

According to sources, police released at least 47 political workers of the same party after taking bribe. The details of workers including their names, locations of arrest and bribery details have been submitted to Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Mehar.

The political party, whose name has not been disclosed, shared the details of its workers with the additional IG seeking retribution for the corrupt cops.

The party alleged that plainclothes police personnel and counter terrorism department officials round up political workers on the pretext of terrorism charges and later demand heavy bribes for their release. The most of the workers had been arrested from Korangi and Landhi. The additional IF has asked the CIA DIG to investigate the revelation and submit its report.
