The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict on a petition filed by Ayyan Ali who requested for the removal of her name from the exit control list (ECL).
The SHC bench, headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh, reserved the verdict after Additional Attorney General Salman Talibuddin and Ayyan’s counsel Latif Khosa concluded their arguments. The date of judgment’s pronouncement will be fixed later.
Earlier, the Ayyan’s counsel submitted that placing her name on the ECL was violation of fundamental rights and it was also the violation of Article 18 of the Pakistan’s constitution. Citing the interior ministry and airport authorities as respondents, the petitioner prayed to the court to direct them to remove her name from the ECL.
Earlier, the customs authorities returned the passport of Ayyan Ali who is facing charges of currency smuggling, after the special court of customs, excise and taxation in Rawalpindi approved her plea of returning the passport. Ayyan was arrested from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Airport, Islamabad, on 14th of March this year when she was allegedly trying to smuggle half million US dollars. The passport of Ayyan Ali and $5,00,000 was confiscated by the customs authorities.
Even if she has created another of a record to appear in the courts – 41 times, why not include the other 24 'money-mules' ( pointed out by Dr Asim), in the investigation ??
