Kite flying ban imposed in ICT from Mar 1

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration will ban kite flying from the last week of February in the federal capital.

An official of ICT said on Tuesday that in this regard, decision was taken for safety of the people, adding that some people were flying kites in the residential areas of the city which creating problems in various areas.

He said that the administration would implement ban on kite flying till month of April.

The official further said that parents also needed to cooperate with administration and not allow their children as due to kite flying number of incidents reported in previous years in various parts of the country.

“Kite flying is a cultural festival which is misused by applying copper wire and metallic strings causing number of incidents as large number of people had lost their lives, if kite-flying were used in a proper way so that ban would have not been imposed by the authorities concerned,” he remarked.

He said that the authorities annually imposed ban on the kite flying during the month of February in the best interest of people.

He said that people should cooperate with the administrations and avoid kite flying during ban, otherwise strict action would be taken against the violators.
