Political party workers “Cockroach” and “Tidda” sentenced to 14 years

Two political party workers were given a collective 14 years sentences on charges of keeping weapons and explosives illegally.

The men, named Naeem (aka Cockroach) and  Farhan (aka Tidda), who had been arrested in March 2013 from Orangi Town, were also fined PKR 10,000 each. The case was by additional sessions judge Sikander Amirpuri inside the Central Prison in Karachi. The cases had to be heard separately due to security concerns.

A case had been filed against the accused under Sindh Arms Act section 13-d and Explosive Substances Act of 1908 sections 4 and 5. According to police reports, the men were workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

The suspects have been held in jail since their arrest and have served three years of their sentence. They reserve the right to challenge the decision in the Sindh High Court.
