Govt’s decision to introduce ‘Intizar Hussain Literary Award’ applauded

Scholars, writers and literary figures highly appreciated the government decision of introducing “Intizar Hussain Literary Award.

Prominent literary personalities including Chairman Pakistan Television Ata ul Haq Qasmi, Kishwar Naheed, Fateh Muhammad Malik, Prof Jaleel Aali, Prof. Dr Ihsan Akbar, Director General National Language Promotion Department, Prof. Qaisra Alvi, Managing Director National Book Foundation (NBF) Prof. Dr Inam ul Haq Javeid, President Sukhnawar Literary Society Aftaz Zia, Manzar Naqvi, Iqbal Hussain Afkar, Chairman PAL Prof. Dr Muhammad Qasim Bughio and Director General PAL Dr Rashid Hameed have welcomed the decision of government to introduce Intizar Hussain Literary Award.

Talking to APP, they said that this Award would not only encourage the literary people but also play a very vital role in the promotion of literature in the country.

They highly eulogized the decision of the government, saying that Intizar Hussain was a very prominent literary figure of sub-continent and he really deserves this award.

The writers and scholars said that the announcement of Intizar Hussain Literary Award would benefit the literary community, besides encouraging them to contribute and make efforts for achieving such a high profile Literary Award.

They also lauded the services of Advisor to PM on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, saying that the creation of new Division specifically for the promotion of country literature is one of the good initiatives by the government.

“As a language, Urdu should be proud that a writer like Intizar Husain chose it to express his ideas,” the scholars said, adding that “Intizar Husain was a tree of literature in whose shadow we all were sitting.”
