It has emerged that another Pakistani scientist, a 25 year old Imran Khan from Peshawar was also part of the team that discovered gravitational waves, ripples in space and time hypothesised by physicist Albert Einstein a century ago.

Imran Khan has been known to have worked with a team of scientists at Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) that recorded gravitational waves for the first time in history.

A graduate of FAST, he worked with Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI), one of the institutions involved in the research.

  1. We really don't know his contribution. Whereas, Dr. Nergis has had her US qualification and has about 20 years of experience while working in the US.

    • He was my student at FAST NUCES, Peshawar Campus. He graduated with EE degree in 2011. MS in optoelectronics from Turkey and currently pursuing Ph.D in Italy.

  2. Proud of my student Imran Khan who graduated from FAST NUCES, Peshawar in 2011. He belongs to Quetta.
Special credit goes to Dr. Khalil Ullah and Dr. Mohammad Asmat Ullah Khan, whose mentoring made this possible.

Let us root out terrorism, religious extremism, linguistic prejudices, the corrupt and other evils that ail our society and let us give a free hand to our young and talented, who are already doing a tremendous amount of good work inside and outside Pakistan and making the country proud. They are the future and they can take Pakistan to greater heights. A bright future is ours for the making.

  4. We might have very few people when it comes to gravitation waves, but it is different matter when it comes to corruption waves, Pakistan has the worlds best scholars in this field. Zirdari can safely be equated as Einstein of corruption waves.
