Every year the government urges people not to observe Valentine’s Day with a very absurd reason that it is a part of western tradition. This year it was banned in Islamabad, though the interior ministry later said that they didn’t issue any such orders. If we can celebrate Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and other such occasions to show our love for them on a specific day, then why not celebrate Valentine’s Day? There are a lot of western things in practice in the country. Instead of merely banning such events, the government should focus on the things that are harmful for our community, culture and country.

Why does not this Govt. rename itself on religious names.? It wants to deprive us almost every pleasure on the surface of earth.
Although Saint Valentine was a Roman Catholic priest who preached against the Roman dictatorship of third century AD, which forbade Christian marriages, yet later on with the inception of Reformation and transformation of Christianity into a secular ideology, the Saint Valentine day began to be celebrated as a day for free-for-all premarital relationship. Thus if we believe in Islam, we will have to leave our religion and our eastern culture(because Hinduism also forbids pre-marital boy-girl free relationship) only then we can truly celebrate the Saint Valentine day.
Well being a Muslim I am against it yet the Government's way of banning it was totally wrong. Do Islam or our eastern culture allow us to celebrate other occasions like fathers day, mothers day, broken hearts day blah blah blah?? And yes worth mentioning occasion, Halloween day in Larkana!! A few days back Halloween day was celebrated in Szabist. Do we have Halloween in Islam? No, we do not, yet it was celebrated and most of our channels reported it in a way that Larkanians are getting modern and that it was good chance for the all people of different religions to get together. Why the Government of Muslim state did not take any action?
Now a days, specially in Pakistan Valentine is not specifically for pre-marital boy-girl but it is for love, love for friends, love for spouse and love for siblings and we all know love has different forms
Simply I am not one who wanted to celebrate it independently but I am against government's illogical bans.
