The Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Special Security Unit Sindh Police, Maqsood Ahmed, said that 200 Commandos would provide security to polio eradication teams in highly sensitive areas during five days polio eradication campaign commencing from 15th in Karachi.
He further said that under the instructions of the IGP Sindh Police, the SSU had prepared a comprehensive plan under which 200 commandos equipped with latest weapons and communication system would be deployed for providing effective security to health workers. He said the polio campaign commencing from Feb 15 to 19 would provide an opportunity to parents to keep their children protected from the disability due to polio. The commandos will be deployed to provide security to the polio health workers and doctors enabling them to administer polio drops to the children.
Maqsood Ahmed disclosed that under a comprehensive security plan, professionally trained special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team equipped with modern weapons would be ready to challenge any untoward incident if created by terrorists or anti-social elements.
