Kapoor and Sons and how Fawad feels like home in India

Fawad Khan is arguably one of Pakistan’s most loved actors, but the heartthrob has received no less love across the border and he was not one to shy away from acknowledging it.

“I have experienced tremendous love and hospitality in India and all Indians have given me a lovely and warm welcome,” the Khoobsurat actor was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

“Last time too and even this year, it feels like family here in India and where ever I have gone in this country it has always been an amazing experience. I do miss my family. But these guys [Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt] make up for it,” Fawad said while addressing the media at the trailer launch of Karan Johar’s directorial Kapoor & Sons on Wednesday.

Fawad’s second Bollywood movie, Kapoor & Sons, also starring Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra is slated to release on March 18.

Fawad was recently the target of India’s extremist party Shiv Sena who threatened to ban Pakistani artists who cross the border. But the singer-turned-actor seems to be unaffected by the political tiff. ”I am a politically illiterate person and I don’t keep up with current affairs. So for me to get involved in these matters doesn’t seem right,” said Fawad.

Kapoor and Sons captures the on-and-off bond between Fawad and Sidharth who play brothers, their parents and the overall ups and downs in the Kapoor family. But things change when Alia comes in the frame. They seem to fall in love with her and that’s when their lives take a new turn.

The theatrical trailer of Kapoor and Sons is out and fans can’t stop replaying it. This is Fawad Khan’s next Bollywood film which also features Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra in lead roles.

Fawad and Sid are playing brothers who share a typical bond but things change when Alia enters, they both fall for her and that’s when their life turns.

Fawad showcases the best of his talent while Rishi Kapoor is hilarious. The fun-packed trailer has managed to win hearts and is bound to be another blockbuster.

Earlier, the makers treated fans with some candid behind-the-scene pictures of the poster shoot just days after the first look was unveiled.

Here are some highlights of the trailer launch held in Mumbai.

The trio went matchy-matchy at the trailer launch

After endearing us in the trailer, Fawad, Alia and Siddharth continued to be cute as they attended the trailer launch in colour-coordinated outfits.

Fawad and Siddharth proved that they’re still brothers at heart, and wore matching sneakers! Don’t tell us they went shopping together!

Fawad had no words to express how he felt at the trailer launch

So he resorted to the following gesture:

Here’s hoping it was nothing offensive!

Alia Bhatt confessed how much she wanted to work with Fawad

Fawad blushed a light pink as his young co-star Alia Bhatt admitted that she was eager to work with him:

According to Filmfare, Bhatt said, “Everyone’s seen his work on TV out there. I was really looking forward to working with him as an actor and we got along really well. We generally had a lot of fun while we were shooting.”

Fawad said Ratna Pathak Shah will be his mother forever

Kapoor & Sons will be the second time that veteran actress plays Fawad’s on-screen mother after Khoobsurat, leading Fawad to dub her his “permanent filmi maa”.

“I think she is my permanent filmi maa. I think working with a veteran actress like her was great. I am completely new,” Fawad said at the trailer launch, reports Indian Express.

“It is a delight to work with actors from whom you can learn something. She (Ratna Pathak Shah) is very giving and collaborative. She is a party animal,” he added.

Rishi Kapoor made a disappearing act

If there was a more aww-inducing presence on screen, it was the Kapoor dadu played by Rishi Kapoor.

He was one of the first to reach the scene yesterday, but hurried out as soon as the trailer was screened.

According to Indian Express, “As soon as the screening of the trailer finished, Rishi who was seen typing on his phone furiously walked up to Karan Johar and whispered something into his ears. On hearing the same, Karan’s face turned a tad grave and the filmmaker nodded in response to Rishi’s whispering statements. Almost immediately enough, Rishi took off like wind before one could even blink their eyes.”

The film is slated to release on March 18.
