The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed Sindh Rangers and home department to file comments on a petition filed by wife of Uzair Baloch, the Lyari gang war leader, seeking the arrangement of a meeting between Uzair and his family members.

The Lyari gagsters chief of banned Peoples Aman Committee, is currently at Mitharam Hostel, a sub jail, as he is being detained by the Rangers for his involvement in offences falling within Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

The SHC bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh issued notices to lawyers of Rangers and the home department to make sure that they submit their comments in the next hearing.

Ms Samina Uzair, submitted in her petition that the family had not been in contact Uzair for the past 13 months and she saw her husband recently on January 30 during his presence in an anti-terrorism court.

The petitioner submitted that Faiz Baloch, father of Uzair Baloch, had been murdered and when Uzair struggled to get the murder FIR registered he was implicated in false cases. “Large number of false cases was registered against my husband on political basis,” she added.

Citing Rangers and home department as respondents, she requested the court to direct the Rangers to arrange a meeting for her and other family members with Uzair at the Mitharam Hostel in accordance with law. The court was further requested to issue directions for the medical facilities for Uzair Baloch.
