Assistant Professor Para Din of Balochistan University was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on his vehicle in the Almo Chowk area on Thursday.
According to police, the teacher was on his way to home after attending the university when the gunmen riding a motorcycle fired at his vehicle.
The injured Para Din was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta.
A heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel late reached the site of the attack and initiated an investigation into the incident. The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained at the time, police said.
Meanwhile, a large number of university teachers and students reached CMH to enquire about his health.
