Former Sindh provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday said he wants to return to Pakistan but does not want to become another Dr Asim Hussain.

Speaking to a private news channel, Memon demanded the Pakistan government strike out his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) so that he can freely move in and out of the country. He said his son studies in the United Kingdom and he is presently there to visit him.

Memon clarified that he has no intention to seek political asylum in the UK. He claimed that he was being victimized in Pakistan.

On Monday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah took exception to the placement of Sharjeel Memon’s name on the ECL.

He demanded of the federal government to rein in on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which, he claimed, was taking actions against Sindh government officials and leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

  1. It was the Sind Government who removed him from the Cabinet. All big or smal criminals from Pakistan in general and Karachi/Sind in particular seek refuge in Dubai or make it a spring-board. They also have invested a lot of black-money in UAE business. It is only PPP leadership or the 'Indispensible' CM of Sind to decide whether or nor Sharjeel Memon can return.
