Nawaz to leave for Qatar on two-day trip today

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would begin a two-day visit of Qatar to meet the head of the state on the latter’s invitation, beginning on Wednesday.

Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani and minister of interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani extended the invitation to PM Nawaz.

The Emir visited Pakistan in March last year and met the premier to extend the bilateral trade prospects and relations between the two countries.

During the two-day visit, a high-level delegation will accompany the prime minister wherein he will have meetings with the Emir and his counterpart, besides meeting cabinet ministers.

The two countries would also hold wide-ranging delegation-level talks, during which a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) will be signed in the field of health, media, education and the LNG sectors.

The main focus of the meetings will be to further enhance bilateral relations in various fields including defence and employment opportunities in Qatar.

Qatar hosts more than 115,000 Pakistanis that are contributing towards the development and prosperity of the country and acting as a bridge between the two countries.
