Chairperson of PM’s Youth Program (PMYP) Leila Khan Monday said that about fifty-five thousand applications have so far been received for one year paid internship program under Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, she said the scheme has received tremendous response from the youth and vowed to further improve it based on the current experience.
She said fifty thousand internships will be granted to the fresh graduates having sixteen years of education in the first year.
Leila Khan said it is the first time that the private sector has been involved in the scheme and the selected interns will be placed in many NGOs, banks and big construction companies.
She added the internship will provide an experience and skill enhancement opportunity to them.
She assured that the internships will totally be given on merit as a proper online system has been evolved to receive applications. The computer-based system will automatically generate the merit list after the completion of application receiving process.
The chairperson of PM’s Youth Program said that a monitoring system has also been evolved to monitor the performance of the selected interns in the public and private departments.
11 February is the last day for submission of applications for the internship scheme, she informed.
