Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan said on Sunday that privatisation of state entities which had been running in loss was aimed at lessening burden on national exchequer and the government is committed to privatising all such entities.
Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Photo Journalists Association Gujranwala on Sunday, Dastagir said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be turned into a profitable organization.
The commerce minister said that about Rs 600 billion were paid every year to meet losses of the state enterprises.
The minister said that the PIA matter is part of the government’s economic reforms programme, which will be implemented to make it a profitable organisation.
The huge sums being wasted on loss making projects such as orange train and metro should have been used for rescuing PIA and the Steel Mill. There are too many good for nothing people around Nawaz Sharif forcing him to mismanage and mishandle every issue. You do not go in with guns and bullets when workers are protesting for their basic rights and you do not use aggressive and belligerent approach as done by Ahsan Iqbal when seeking cooperation on CPEC. Much damage has been done by arrogance and mismanagement by this government. They urgently need to come down to the public platform of Parliament and discuss issues with the opposition
