Five killed, scores injured in fog related road accidents

At least five persons were killed and scores injured in road mishaps occurred due to fog across Punjab on Monday morning.

 

According to Rescue sources, due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, a passenger coach collided head-on with a truck near Vaogwal area of Sargodha. Five persons died on the spot while 12 others were seriously wounded.

 

Similarly, about 50 persons were injured in a passenger bus-truck collision due to dense fog in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station Jarranwala.

 

Eight intermediate students were wounded when their college was hit by a truck at Sultan Bahu Bridge in Shorkot.

 

Six persons were hurt in a collision between a van and motorcycle-rickshaw at Shahpur Khushab Road in Sargodha.

 

Some of the injured, who were shifted to different hospitals of respective areas, were stated to be in serious condition.

 

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the causalities in accidents occurred due to fog. He condoled with the bereaved families and directed the authorities concerned for providing best medical treatment to the injured.
