At least five people were killed and many injured in road mishaps that occurred due to fog across Punjab on Monday morning.
According to rescue sources, a passenger coach collided head-on with a truck near Vaogwal area of Sargodha due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. As a result, five persons died on the spot while 12 others were seriously wounded.
Similarly, about 50 persons were injured in a bus-truck collision due to dense fog in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station in Jarranwala.
Eight intermediate students were wounded when their college bus was hit by a truck at Sultan Bahu Bridge in Shorkot.
Six persons were injured in a collision between a van and motorcycle-rickshaw at Shahpur Khushab Road in Sargodha. Some of the injured, who were shifted to different hospitals of respective areas, were stated to be in serious condition.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the causalities in accidents that occurred due to fog. He condoled with the bereaved families and directed the authorities concerned for providing best medical treatment to the injured.
