PITB saves millions of rupees of govt through video conferencing

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif has said all offices of commissioners, regional police officers, district coordination officers and district police officers have been interlinked with offices of the chief minister, chief secretary and Inspector General Police of Punjab through video conferencing.

Talking to APP, he said: “Tens of millions of rupees of the Punjab government are being saved through the video conferencing.”

Dr Saif said the PITB’s video conferencing system had held 857 meetings so far with total duration of 81,540 minutes or 1359 hours.

“Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chaired at least 269 meetings with duration of 37,680 minutes or 628 hours through this facility which has enabled the Punjab government to function more smoothly,” he said.

One could imagine that the commissioner of DG Khan would have to spend at least two days for attending a meeting in Lahore. Similarly, it was a big task to arrange a meeting of DCOs, DPOs and other officers of 36 districts in Lahore, he said. Heavy amount on traveling, refreshment, meals, security measures and reimbursement of TA/DA of officers might be added to other hectic efforts, he added.
