Reviewing the prevailing security threats to national institutions, Jinnah Hospital has launched a security card system in emergency department to ensure the security of patients, doctors and attendants.
This was stated by Director Security Department of Jinnah Hospital Dr Iftikhar Ahmed while talking to APP here Sunday. Under the new card system, one each security card is issued to a single attendant and patient on the time of admission in emergency department and no body else is permitted to enter the emergency department, he claimed.
He said that this system had two benefits as it would decrease the crowed of the attendants and ensure the complete surveillance in the department.
Giving details of the security system in the hospital, Dr Iftkhar elaborated that 80 CCTV had been installed to keep vigil on the entry and exit points. He said around 60 CCTV more required to ensure the security outside and around the hospital.
He said that 200 security personnel including 30 lady guards are required so that complete security of the hospital could be ensured at all exit and entry points. He informed that 60 armed personnel were also need of the hospital so that any untoward incident could be tackled.
He said that around 10,000 vehicles including vans, cars ambulances and other goods trucks visits the hospital daily which needed to be checked properly.
He called for the establishment of fire station in hospital to meet any eventuality regarding outbreak of fire or short-circuit. In short he said that security personnel in forms of different teams at each floor of the hospital are alert to safe guard the hospital inmates round the clock.
