Coach driver killed, six hurt in robbers’ firing

The driver of a coach bus was killed and six other persons were injured when robbers opened fire on the vehicle here on Sunday.

 

According to police, the robbers signalled to stop the Karachi-bound passenger coach coming from Peshawar in Naherkot area of Shikarpur, but the driver tried to speed away. The robbers opened fire at the vehicle, as a result of which the driver was killed on the spot while six passengers sustained wounds.

 

The body and the injured were moved to Taluka Hospital Shikarpur for medico-legal formalities.

 

The passengers later held a demonstration against the incident by blocking the road. They demanded the authorities concerned to take steps to prevent incidents of looting coaches, which on the rise.
