It’s not only Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan who have a flair for singing and acting, Atif Aslam expressed that he too wants to perform on-screen, as opposed to people’s widely held belief that he doesn’t want to act.
Not like the singer is new to acting, he has already starred on the big screen in Bol. But now Atif, who has lent vocals to numerous Bollywood hits, is ready to venture again into acting after a five year hiatus.
In an interview with Times of India, the Tajdar-e-Haram singer revealed that he would love to act provided he gets good scripts.
“I think main pehle ek kaam theek tarah se kar loon…,” he quipped, adding, “I had debuted with Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol. It was critically acclaimed. Post that, I haven’t gotten the right kind of script.”
“I would love to act. I am looking to something that intrigues and interests me. I don’t know why but people feel that I don’t want to act — that’s not true. I am looking for an intense story,” he said.
Atif also spoke at length about his choice of music. The singer was asked if he is more comfortable with melancholic numbers, to which he replied saying, “I am comfortable doing both kinds of songs — sad as well as peppy. It is just that for a happy song you need to gear yourself up.”
“You can try different styles and experiment with it or sing it in many ways — that is the reason it takes longer to record such numbers. Sad, emotional songs come easily to me,” said the Mar Jaayen fromLoveshhuda singer.
Atif, who is currently busy working on singles, also plans to “go back to his roots”.
“I am working on singles and am planning to go back to my roots. I have recorded a couple of songs and will do a few more,” he said.
