A Pakistani man committed suicide in Saudi Arabia after learning that the woman he loved married another man in his home country.
The man who was in his 20s jumped into a water well in the oil-rich kingdom. Police discovered his body after a colleague noticed a foul odour in the tap water given to sheep in the farm in the western town of Khurmah.
Two weeks ago, the deceased returned to Saudi Arabia after agreeing with his lover’s family to marry her, a relative revealed, according to Okaz daily.
“He then received news that she married another man… Police determined it was a suicide case,” the paper said.
Earlier, a teenager committed suicide in Bahlak police precinct allegedly over lost love. The SHO said the boy’s love interest had been engaged to another man and distraught at this, he took his life.
The 18-year-old boy, a resident of Chak 597-GB, had fallen in love with his cousin and had asked his family to get them married. However, the girl’s father had turned down the proposal and arranged for his daughter to be promised to someone else.
