Lahore police claimed to have arrested 189 accused of 73 criminal gangs and recovered stolen property worth Rs 8,700,000 from their possession during last month.
Police sources said on Friday that the police also arrested 297 proclaimed offenders and 1,103 court absconders during same period.
As many as 417 cases were registered against 427 accused on having illicit weapon and police also recovered 46 rifles, 43 guns, 529 revolvers and 30,014 bullets from their possession, sources added.
During action against drug dealers, 615 cases were registered and 620 culprits were arrested besides recovering 34kg319grm heroin, 150kg 921gram chars, 150gm opium and 6765 bottles of liquor recovered from them.
Moreover, 108 cases were registered against gamblers and the police arrested 424 gamblers and recovered stake money more than Rs 364,000 from them. In a special crackdown against criminals 650 cases were also registered against 1204 culprits on the violation of law during same period.
Meanwhile, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf directed police officers for the implementation of National Action Plan and to utilise their full energies to curb the crime in the city and arrest the criminals.
