A number of opposition parties on Wednesday showed solidarity with the protesting Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah while criticising Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif vowed to support PIA workers at every step against privatisation. He said that the opposition would side with the PIA employees as they were fighting for their rights and that they were ready to face any challenge in this regard.

It seems that Ziaul-Haq has come alive again after seeing such torture on PIA workers, he added.

Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi denounced the ongoing chaos in the country and sought judicial inquiry into the matter.

Government is taking violent steps to divide PIA workers which is illegal and unacceptable, Qureshi said.

Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul-Haq urged the federation to apologise to the employees and to accept their demands.

He said that action against culprits involved in the killing of PIA employees was necessary.

“Authorities have created chaos in the country instead of handling it properly,” he said.

Meanwhile, Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed advised the ruling party to resolve the matter by agreeing to the demands of the PIA’s workers.

Latif Khosa also arrived in Islamabad to show his support for PIA employees.
