The opposition Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday agreed to requisition a session of the National Assembly to discuss issues pertaining to Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) privatisation and prices of petroleum products.

An agreement in this regard was reached in a meeting between PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and National Assembly Leader of Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah at the latter’s residence here.

The leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in the country. They said that the recent reduction in petroleum prices was a ‘joke’ with the nation.

It may be added that the government on February 1 slashed the prices of petroleum products by Rs 5 per litre, which does not correspond with the decline in oil prices in the international market.
