Deputy Inspector General of Police, Saeed Wazir Wednesday said that militants initially had planned storming Wali Khan University Mardan but later changed their plan and attacked Bacha Khan University (BKU) deeming it a softer target.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with BKU incident, he said that BKU was selected by militants as a soft target and to increase causalities. He said that a facilitator of attackers has revealed that BKU was targeted owing to its locality and being an easy target.
He lauded the sacrifices of police forces in the tragic attack and said they have shown extraordinary professionalism and courage in the line of duty during the BKU incident.
Saeed Wazir said that perpetrators involved in the incident have nothing to do with norms of humanity adding police force was fully prepared to thwart their designs.
The ceremony among others was also attended by MNA, Gohar Shah, DPO Charsadda, Sohail Khalid Assistant commissioner, Noor Wali and public representatives.
