Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday condemned the ‘attack’ on protesting Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) workers in Karachi.

Asif Ali Zardari, in a statement, demanded a judicial investigation into the incident.

Bilawal, in a separate message, condemned the use of force against the protesting PIA employees and asked the government to desist from adopting dictatorial tactics to silence the democratic rights of protesters.

The PPP chairman expressed sympathies with the employees of the national flag carrier and assured them that PPP was against the privatisation of national assets for peanuts, and stood with the labour class for their just cause.

At least two persons were killed and many injured when police and Rangers personnel used water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets against protesting workers, as they began to move towards the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
