Retired SSG colonel was mastermind of planned attack on parliament

Police on Monday arrested the mastermind of a planned missile attack on the Parliament House in 2011. The culprit was reportedly a retired colonel of Special Services Group (SSG) named Tassaduq Bashir.

According to details, a retired colonel of SSG confessed to planning a missile attack on the Parliament House in October 2011 with the help of other terrorists after he was arrested by police on suspicion of murder. Police recovered 15 missiles, suicide jackets and 9 hand grenades during a search operation in Azhar Town on October 8, 2011.

According to sources, the arrested colonel had reportedly been in custody of secret agencies. The court gave a two-day physical remand of the suspect to the police in the murder case.

PTV ATTACK CASE HEARING:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday ordered the authorities to arrest and present all 17 accused in the parliament and state-run Pakistan television attack cases after the counsel for the accused remained absent during the hearing.

Syed Kausar Abbas held a hearing of the Pakistan Television (PTV) attack case. As many as 86 activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) appeared before the court on Monday.

The court expressed displeasure over the remaining activists’ absence and issued arrest warrants against them. The 86 workers had earlier been released on bail. This is not the first hearing where the counsel failed to appear before the court. Challan in the case has also not been filed yet.
