Terrorists attacking soft targets: Pervaiz Rashid

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said terrorists’ attempts have declined substantially due to intelligence successes against them.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, he said terrorists are attacking soft targets.

He said Pakistan will cooperate with other countries to control terror-related incidents and is ready to share “our experience with them for the benefit of the region”.

The minister said that Pakistan wants to carry forward dialogue with India but terrorist attempts derailed the process. He said terrorists are not only the enemies of Pakistan but also humanity.

To a query, Rashid said that the arrest of Uzair Baloch is the reflection of the commitments made by the prime minister to nab every criminal.

He also lashed out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for his hypocrisy.

Replying to another question, the minister said that protection of citizens is the responsibility of the state and security of educational institutions will be ensured. He said that they would teach theirs and the enemy’s children in these schools.

The minister further said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is committed to ending crime in Karachi and to bringing the criminals to justice.

Rashid avoided making a comment on the row between Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khurshid Shah.

Earlier, Rashid visited former district nazim of Lahore Mian Amer Mahmood’s residence to express condolence over his father’s death.
