Lyari godfather says politicians supervised NATO arms supply to PPP Amn Committee
Several influential politicians and personalities of Sindh could be brought under investigation following the confessional statement of former People’s Amn Committee chief and Lyari gang war ringleader Uzair Baloch.
Sources said that law enforcement agencies had increased the scope of interrogation and had also gained access to the records of People’s Peace Committee chief’s political meetings and their goals.
“Political personalities have met many times with the Lyari gang war ringleader to end the war in Lyari,” sources said.
“Uzair Baloch has also made revelations regarding NATO’s weapons supplies reaching Lyari with the backing of important political leaders,” the sources added.
Uzair Baloch made more revelations on Sunday, confessing that NATO weapons were supplied to the People’s Peace Committee under the supervision of important political personalities.
According to him, the outlawed peace committee had been provided with NATO weapons under political persons’ supervision. He said the same political leaders used those weapons for land-grabbing, targeted killing and other crimes.
He confessed to having got people appointed and transferred on political basis, and said he also helped some corrupt politicians flee the country.
Uzair also revealed that he was given assurance while in jail that he’d be made the chief of Lyari and was later used for land-grabbing, targeted killing and other crimes. According to Uzair Baloch, he grabbed lands in Karachi’s areas of Gulistan-e-Johar, Clifton and Sarjani Town.
The gang war leader also made revelations about Khalid Shehenshah, Arshad Pappu, former Steel Mills Chairman Sajjad Hussain Shah and various others.
Sources claimed that a joint investigation team would be formed to investigate Uzair for the 30 cases registered against him.
